Legal Aid of Napa Valley has three legal service program areas:
- Senior Legal Services Program
Assists persons 60 years of age or older in a broad range of areas, including elder abuse and neglect, public benefits, long-term care and nursing home problems, in-home support services, health care directives, simple wills and small estate planning, and debt and commercial problems; educates seniors and the community about issues affecting elders such as abuse and consumer and financial fraud
- Baseline Legal Services Program
Assists people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, individuals with disabilities, veterans and victims of domestic violence with unlawful detainer actions, problems related to employment, family law, domestic violence and civil rights, and access to public benefits issues; educates other service providers about legal issues related to low-income and other vulnerable populations
- Immigrant Legal Services Program
Assists immigrants with a variety of immigration law matters, including obtaining visas, permanent residency, Violence Against Women Act petitions and special immigrant juvenile status; provides legal advice to immigrants on housing, working conditions, unpaid wages, illegal evictions, discrimination and retaliation; educates immigrants and the community about immigration law and related issues
Legal Advice Clinics
Legal Aid holds free legal advice clinics regularly at locations throughout Napa County that are convenient to individuals and families needing legal services, including the Calistoga Family Center, the HOPE Center, safe locations for victims of domestic violence, St. John's Church, farmworker housing, the St. Helena Family Center, the American Canyon Family Resource Center and other locations. People seeking legal advice may attend a clinic to consult with a legal advocate free of charge. We recommend contacting Legal Aid before attending a clinic to confirm the time and place of the clinic and to schedule an appointment.
