Legal Aid represents clients before courts and agencies, helps them obtain benefits, and protects their rights through advocacy, consultation, education and referrals.

We have three legal service programs:

  • Senior Legal Services Program: assists persons 60 years of age or older in a broad range of areas, including elder abuse and neglect, public benefits, long-term care and nursing home problems, in-home support services, health care directives, simple wills and small estate planning, and debt and commercial problems; educates seniors and the community about issues affecting elders such as abuse and consumer and financial fraud

  • Baseline Legal Services Program: assists people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, the disabled, veterans and victims of domestic violence with access to public benefits, unlawful detainer actions, criminal history expungement, and problems related to employment, family law, domestic violence and civil rights; educates other service providers about legal issues related to the homeless and other vulnerable populations

  • Immigrant Legal Services Program: educates immigrants and the community about immigration law and related issues; assists immigrants with a variety of immigration law matters, including obtaining visas, permanent residency, Violence Against Women Act petitions; provides legal advice to immigrants on housing, working conditions, unpaid wages, illegal evictions, discrimination and retaliation
